Anybody out there exercise? Not just once in a while, but on a consistent basis? I swear by pilates, I do it three times a week and damn I feel great!
I am one who exercises, too. I've tried Pilates, but it didn't seem very comfortable to me. Maybe I was doing it wrong. Anyway, I'm always up to try new exercises. I do ride an exercise bike, and we do have some weights that I've been thinking of using. I would love to be able to go for walks, but my neighborhood doesn't have sidewalks, so it makes it a little difficult. I would also love to go swimming more often, and even join a fitness club, like curves, but we don't live in the city, so I can't take a bus or anything like that. I hate it, because that limits me, but... I try to make the best with what I can.
I became an exercise fanatic after my diagnosis of diabetes. It's the best way to keep blood sugar under control and excess fat off. I like trying different types of exercise since I get bored with the same old routines. Luckily I have a blind co-worker who has already found some local personal trainers who like working with blind people and don't mind teaching us one-on-one. But I'm sure it's not easy for most blind people to find gyms or health clubs where they can get extra attention.
Becky, you're lucky. As I mentioned before, I dont' live in the city, so I don't have access to buses. I've tried to get my mom to join Curves with me, but she still seems to be on the fence about it. She said that she would, but I'm not sure if she'd be devoted to it. lol, And, I dont' know anyone out here, so I dont' have a friend or anything to join with.
I know what it's like to try to find someone to go exercise with. Back before I got serious about exercise I had a friend who wanted me to join a health club with her. I loved her as a friend but knew that one of her biggest flaws was not sticking with things. And I was right because about two weeks after she and I joined, she started finding excuses not to go. And it wasn't someplace I wanted to go to by myself, so all that money I paid to join was down the tubes.
I swim, hike, run after 2 toddlers, and climb...also sex is the best exercise there is.
Of course sex doesn't burn that many calories though, if that's what you're trying to get out of it *grin*.
I swim, trying to swim 4 times a week but sometimes goes down to twice or once, if I'm too busy, the aim is to go weight lifting twice a week as well and hopefully we'll get to either buy or try a tandem bike. I love exercising. The hardest part of it is to get to the gym or into your work out clothes, especially after a long day at work when it seems so much easier to sit back with a bar of chocolate. Sometimes that's ok too but you got to come up with a schedule you like and stick with it, that way you can really enjoy the chocolate once you have it *grin*.
I'm going to participate in open water swimming in July and August but still need to find out exactly how to get assistance / directions in the water.
cheers

I think that's how it would be if my mom and I joined a health club. She'd probably stick with it for a while, but then, she wouldn't want to go anymore. In a way, I can understand this. I know that after work, she's tired, and she just wants to rlax, but at the same time, I try to encourage her to exercise for her health. I love exercising. I'm one of those people who keeps up on health issues, and I try to take care of myself in the best ways possible, but since I don't have access to different places where I can do different types of activities, I end up doing the same things over and over again here at the house, and that gets very boring.
Sex is a fantastic exercise.
Indeed it's the best way to burn calories ..grin.
yes, sex is wonderful, and if you do it for a long long time, then you will definetly burn those calories lol
I'm a health nut, so I definetly exercise as much as I can. Pilates is a fantastic work-out if you want results in my oppinion. I use to exercize in my garage, doing all sorts of aerobics like jumping rope and jumping jacks. They work great too if you're one of those ppl, like me, who has a hard time getting to a gym. Also, those minny trampoleens are fun.
Well, before I went to college, I was the member of an excellent gym where you had a personal trainer who gave you an hour's work-out a week. We also have a cross trainer and exercise bike at home and my grandparents have a rowing machine. I do around 15 to 20 minutes a day on the cross trainer whenever I get the chance.
I don't exercise enough. Even though I have got a guide dog. But I am hoping to join a club where they go walking at least 3 times a week. I am 84 pounds over weight. Michelle
Hmmmm! I think I'm not far short of that. About 75 pounds or five stone 5 pounds overweight! Oops!
